Peggy Doyle is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric Nursing. Next year, she will celebrate 50 years of practice. Peggy began her career as a Registered Nurse after graduation from the Washington Hospital Center School of Nursing. After practicing in numerous settings which included pediatric nursing and inpatient medical/surgical nursing , she returned to school and received her Bachelor’s Degree from George Mason University and her Master’s Degree in Nursing with a major in Psychiatric Nursing from Catholic University of American. She became Certified in Adult Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing with the American Nursing Association in 1978 and has been an Advanced Practice Certified Nurse Specialist in Mental Health for 32 years.
Peggy started her Private Practice after several years of experience as a staff nurse on an Inpatient Psychiatric Unit: Managing an Outpatient Mental Health Program in Alexandria Virginia; and Coordinating Peer Review for the Eastern United States for the American Psychiatric Association.
She practiced in Annandale, VA and in Reston, VA before coming to the Fauquier Counseling Center five years ago. Peggy works with Adults, Adolescents and Children. She specializes in the treatment of Anxiety Disorder; Depression; PTSD; Domestic Violence; Sexual Abuse; Relationship Problems and ADHD. Her approach is humanistic with an emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy, communication skills and insight oriented therapy.
Peggy is available for appointments two days a week.
In addition to her work with people, Peggy’s passion is flying. She flew in a professional capacity as an air charter pilot while teaching primary and advanced flying. Currently she volunteers her flying skills with Mercy Medical Airlift, a charitable flying organization of pilots who volunteer their time and aircraft to transport patients and their families to receive specialized medical care.
Peggy lives in Warrenton with her husband Rick, three horses and four dogs. Between them, Peggy and Rick have five children and thirteen grandchildren.
